I set my alarm this morning for 5:30. I never get up that early but I had to be in the office early for a meeting that will last all day today – and I was not prepared to risk the chance to vote.
I had written a different blog to post today. But after what occurred to my family this weekend, this blog practically wrote itself.

On November 14 at 9:52 AM, the moon will be the closest to Earth it has been since 1948. The moon is expected to be 14% bigger and 30% brighter, making it one of the most astronomical nighttime shows of the 21st century so far, according to scientists.

There's an old Yiddish adage - "Man plans and God laughs" (it sounds better in Yiddish). How often we are reminded of it. So it was last weekend. We were all set for a long-planned trip to Boston to visit family and attend a charity event. The phone rang on Sunday morning at 4.
I'm certainly no expert, as anyone who has spent more than 20 minutes with me can attest, but I do know that it is the single most important thing in our world today.

It’s that time again for me. As the weather starts to turn a little colder, the season makes me start thinking about vacation. The concept of vacation is such a personal thing. For me, I look forward to a good book, a glass of cold, very sweet, white wine, sunshine and a pool. I also enjoy some historical vacations. One of my favorite weekends was visiting Hyde Park not that long ago.
