Yesterday my son hit the send button for the last time. That is, he applied to the last college on his list. We had a little party.
This blog is not so much about the story that I’m relaying. This blog is about trust.
When I seek a respite from work mostly in and around politics (which I enjoy), I turn to sports and music.
I enjoy playing ball, with regular weekend and weeknight full court basketball “games” at my former elementary school gym.
IKEA is certainly pushing the envelope with a new ad just released in Sweden. The ad encourages pregnant women to urinate on it. The ad, which is running in one of Sweden's most widely-read women's magazines - states: "Peeing on this ad may change your life."
Recently Joanne and I stayed in on consecutive Saturday nights and watched Godfather I and II.
Our (unanimous) impression was that the original was better, if not far better, than II. It is so rich in color, music, composition, content, acting, writing and lessons. And it is so eternally quotable.
Topical today is second son Fredo's protestations that "I'm smart and I want respect."
My favorite is Hyman Roth's "We're bigger than US Steel". I can just hear Meyer Lansky saying it about the Syndicate.
Last Sunday, Flo and I were at a hardware store in Huntington, Long Island, just picking up a few things. As we got to the counter, the cashier informed us that he had to charge us 5 cents for a bag to pack our purchases.
It was our first encounter with the new “bag law” that went into effect in Suffolk County on January 1st.
“No, thank you. We have a reusable bag.” We answered. Flo and I always have a reusable bag handy.
I read an announcement yesterday that my gym decided to remove cable news from the viewing choices. The theory is that the news stations contain negative content, contrary to a healthy way of life. Those are not my words.
