Independence Eve my wife and I enjoyed hanging out with some 250 of our closest friends, their spouses, (some of their) other family members, their friends and associates, and some clients. What better place to hold such a gathering than Citifield, home of my beloved (albeit underperforming in won-loss records and certain aspects of playing a game I know rather well) New York Mets. This outing represents the fifth year running these kind of outings. Each year gets better. The...
I was advised we needed to do something outside today. I suggested seeing “Thor” pitch in a rehab assignment in Coney Island. She agreed. The team we all hope he rejoins soon frustrates me. I am sure all the players are trying their best but the record suggests a limit to their collective abilities and it remains a source of frustration. No plans to change teams; just hoping tinkering a bit can lead to improvement. I find no merit trading off the pitchers who smart GMs can bu...

The evening before involved a rather large outing of sorts.   Some 265 or so of friends, colleagues, their family, friends, colleagues and clients. Attending either through Gotham City Networking, Inc.® or Kings FDR Tolerance Foundation of FDR Lodge 613, Knights of Pythias.   Citifield. Mets v. Yankees. Five home runs.   Fireworks during the game and after.   Some left happy because of one outcome (which disappointed others). (If only this score above held but it was nice w...

Vacations involve a bit of work no matter where we go. As I wrote about and retain an interest in siting sports stadiums (stadia?) I always try to include one on a visit. Since I enjoy clients involved in transit and transportation issues, I check out the issues wherever we visit. I also take advantage of opportunities to gain perspectives on current issues. This spring recess centered around a visit to our daughter who lives in Los Angeles. Instead on centering our visit...
I had to cut short my weekend basketball (not easy when you shoot 75%) for baseball (well, sort of). I accepted an invite to visit Citifield – home of my beloved Mets with Shelly. Doors opened at 12:30 p.m. and hoops officially ends at noon but often runs a bistle over. Needless to say, we arrived a bit early. We met my brand new group sales liaison. Shelly then took and posted a photo of the “new Mets owner” on social media. Anyone who requested tickets I directed to Ju...

The week past I ran two different group outings on successive days to Citifield. Both teams on the field represented New York.   The first eve, we also raised some money for a Foundation I served as President for a two-year stint.   The second eve, for this networking group, I connected some folks who might benefit from the introduction.   I enjoyed both games, despite my team losing both games; a rarity for this ultra-competitive sports enthusiast.   Dining out last nigh...
