Sugary Memories
Posted By : Rona Gura

I recently purchased a new “healthy” cereal. It depicts itself as healthy as it purports to be keto friendly, low in sugar, and high in protein. In reading the box I was intrigued to read, “Do you ever wonder why you grew up but your cereal didn’t?”   That question brought me straight back to childhood. My brother, sister, and I would often to come

Scouting
Posted By : Rona Gura

I read Fred's blog on Friday and thought about an article I recently read about famous people who were Scouts. The list included Lucille Ball, Debbie Reynolds, her daughter Carrie Fischer, Barbara Walters, Reese Witherspoon, Condoleezza Rice (as well as every other female Secretary of State), Blythe Danner, her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swif

Planning
Posted By : Rona Gura

It’s January 8th  as I write this. I am putting away some of the generous holiday gifts I received. Included in those gifts are two planners/journals.  They are very pretty and  beautifully crafted. The question is, for me, whether I will use them.   One of the attorneys in my office still uses a paper diary (a red book). Given the ease of electron

Going Paperless
Posted By : Rona Gura

I have been trying to move to an almost paperless office for a while now. Prior to Covid, all of my court filings, were on paper. Covid changed that. Now all of my court filings are electronic. It has made the switch-over to a paperless file a lot easier.    I personally have two problems with becoming completely paperless. It has been a struggle f

Updating
Posted By : Rona Gura

Computer updates. I have to admit that they give me anxiety. Whenever I see the prompt when I try to turn off my computer that there updates are available I get nervous. There there’s the prompt as to whether I want to update and restart or update and turn off. More anxiety.   I am uncertain as to where the anxiety stems from. Could it be that some

It's Time To Go
Posted By : Rona Gura

Anyone who knows me knows I love to travel.  The last time I travelled outside of the US was in February 2020.  We had planned and taken a family trip to Italy.  We left evening the day after COVID-19 was detected in Italy     Since that time we have restricted our travels to the US.  But now we have decided to venture past the US.  We will be trav

Look Out, Here It Comes
Posted By : Rona Gura

I am extremely lucky to have a very close “office family,” which includes Gotham adoption attorney extraordinaire Faith Getz Rousso. We genuinely all enjoy one another’s company, help one another,  and look out for one another.   We do have a prankster in our midst. While I was a way on vacation in October an elaborate prank was concocted against m

Sex and The City 2.0

The past few years have seen a plethora of updates/remakes of some of my favorite television shows. Full House, Gilmore Girls, Roseanne, and Hawaii Five O, have all returned to our screens in recent years, with most of the original  cast coming along for one last ride. Although Roseanne was let go from her own show after one season due to her racis

In Search of A Podcast I Can Commit To
Posted By : Rona Gura

If you could see my current Instagram feed, you would see a plethora of ads for podcasts. I started investigating podcasts a few weeks ago and now I’m inundated with ads.    To me, podcasts seem analogous to radio broadcasts. You look for a topic you find interesting and see whether the podcasts captures your attention. I have also seen choosing a

The First Time
Posted By : Rona Gura

Recently I was asked to provide my high school yearbook to be scanned for a preservation project. The request brought me back to a very painful memory. One, I do not believe I truly processed as an adult.  I immediately thought of something that had been written in my yearbook. Someone else had written it but, yet, I was embarrassed and ashamed. An

Unmasking
Posted By : Rona Gura

How long do you think we will continue wearing face masks? Even though I am vaccinated, and boosted, I began wearing masks again in public places after the Delta variant surge. My daughter contacted Covid then which made me put the mask back on. Additionally, at the same time, a client contacted two days after she was in my office, when neither of

I've Been Influenced
Posted By : Rona Gura

We had the conversation several months ago over lunch.  Some of the women in the office mentioned how much they love their cashmere sweaters. I had responded that I never owned a cashmere sweater, essentially because I felt they were generally very expensive.   I did not notice it initially but soon thereafter I noticed an ad popping up on my Insta

Journaling
Posted By : Rona Gura

I’ve been playing around with the thought for several years. Last week I finally committed to it. I bought a journal. I bought it at Weight Watchers so, a part of the reason for the journal is for me to record and  review my eating and wellness habits. Which I did this past week and noticed some interesting habits.    But this journal has a lot mor

Is It Real News?
Posted By : Rona Gura

A friend and I had a bit of a debate this week. She had her view on a certain issue and I had mine. To support my view, I emailed her a news article I had found. She did the same. We had two different viewpoints on the same issue, but each was apparently supported by two different news articles.  The websites where we each found the articles were v

Drink of Choice

Last week was one of “those” weeks. You know the type, when you breathe a sigh of relief when you leave the office on Friday night. And, it was Friday night when I left. A judge felt the need to “punish” my client and her soon to be ex-spouse for not settling their case. The punishment? Scheduling a court conference for 4:30 on a Friday afternoon.
