In a not surprising move, Congress is fighting the Obama adminstration to keep selling pizza and french fries in school. Now I'm not here to debate whether we should or should not. I'll leave that to the politics list or feel free to debate it in the comments below.  

Two of my recent Blogs have discussed the pluses and minuses of technology. In that vein this week's is about my uneasy, up close and personal encounter (inter-action does not apply) with Gotham technology. Namely, our spanking new, state of the art, bleeding edge, web site. Webmaster Mitch has been working on it for longer than we would like to admit and has done a great job.

This came over the news yesterday. A 32 year old middle school teacher in California was fired when it was discovered that she had been in the adult entertainment industry prior to becoming a teacher. Apparently, students found videos of her online. She appealed her termination and the Commission on Professional Competence upheld the termination.

A few nights ago I engaged in a conversation with another gentleman about his feelings on aging.  He was a bit older than me, perhaps in his late 50's.  A fairly fit man, he was describing his frustration with how he is perceived as being "older", yet he doesn't feel "older".  He wasn't just rebelling against people's opinions, because he acknowledged that when he was younger, people his age seemed to act older and feel older than he does now.  

In my youth (I sound ancient, don't I?), I always appreciated a good dose of background noise.  Whether a sitcom on TV or a Barry Manilow marathon on the radio (yes, I really do like Barry), my first reach was always to add some noise.  While I was cooking, something in the background always kept me company -- whether a movie or a playlist.

While my children may disagree, I don`t believe that my husband and I have too many rules that we expect them to abide by. Besides the obvious of being courteous and respectful to others and keeping their rooms relatively neat, they all still have curfews and are, generally, not allowed out with their friends on school nights.

The New York Times has a story on the first page of the Travel section today on "The 46 Places to Go in 2013."  I like these types of stories, like SKI magazine's list of best new places to ski, so I took at look at the list.

The photo is pretty cool to look at...snow in Jerusalem.   But unfortunately that really doesn't look good for the planet. Can anybody say global warming? Here's some interesting facts.
