I'm pretty sure that if I had my life to live over I would not be a lawyer.When I was growing up my sole interest was baseball and my goal was to replace my Idol Mickey Mantle in center field for the Yankees. As such, I was not much of a student and only the rude intrusion  of the Viet Nam era draft caused me to alter my plans. Suddenly, a law school draft exemption was something else to strive for.
Last Sunday, I attended the annual commemoration of the Holocaust at Temple Emanu-el in New York City. It made me sad -- indeed sadder than I can remember ever being after attending the somber event in the past few years.
I have been coaching for 17 years.  This is my 7th year coaching Little League baseball.  We have only had compettitve playoffs for the last 2 years.  The first year we had competitive playoffs our team was good, but got knocked out in the first round.  The next year our team was given the first overall pick in the draft.  The following year, they determined the draft order randomly and I pulled the first pick again.  We won a championship (co-champions actually in a situation I wrote about here).  Heading into this season, j

One night this past week I walked into the kitchen as Eve was preparing dinner and from behind gently rested my face against hers.  It took only a few seconds for her to lightly shriek and turn around and say "you shaved!" and then tell me that I have such a cute face.  My mother used to say the same thing.  "Why do you cover your nice face with that ugly beard?" she would always ask me.
Starting next year, the employees at Michelin North America will have to pay, up to $1,000, if they have a waistline that exceeds their criteria (35 inches for women and 40 inches for men) or even high blood pressure.
My birthday was last week and my wife Joanne greeted me at breakfast with a card that said "Life Isn't About Finding Yourself. Life Is About Creating Yourself. (Unknown)"Surely, this is a universal message. Take it to heart and aspire toinspire others to compliment you, as Jo did by adding "You are a piece of work!" to the card.
