Michael Sam is about to set foot on untrodden ground.  He is a top player heading into the NFL draft and just announced to the world that he is gay.  Almost certain to get drafted, Sam showed an incredible amount of courage by making his announcement just before he heads into the draft.  
I have followed the re-emerging news stories regarding allegations of sexual abuse asserted against Woody Allen by his daughter, Dylan Farrow with acute interest due to my own professional experience.
What gives me the willies most among the Olympic events has got to be the luge.  They fly down a sheet of ice approaching 90 mph on  a tiny sled, on their backs, reaching 5 g's of force.   And they do it over and over.   What is the skill, I wonder.  
The winter olymmpics in Russia officially opened last night (in real time it was yesterday morning) to a dream like staged sequence that looked like Cirque du soleil vs Disneyland. Although I really don't get excited about the opening ceremonies, there were two things that struck a chord. Israel came out followed by Iran...a kind of wierd statement of why these games exist. I wonder if they sat next to each other in the stands.  
Recently, as a consequence of an orgy of photographing and Facebook posting, my iPhone battery ran out of power and I was DISCONNECTED! For better or worse, I instantly realized I'd become addicted and dependent upon that small (yet so big) window into the world.
I have always had a penchant for disliking pop music.  When I was in high school, the most popular music was "New Wave", as distasteful a genre of music that has ever existed.  It brought on the advent of electronically produced music. which has led to all sorts of bad things in musical history, including the distinct decline in aggregate musical talent.
