What do you do when an organization is doing "good," but they also are doing something you don't support?

Let me first say, that I can often not see the "big picture" and I am also often an A#%hole.

I was sent two emails, asking me to "adopt" a child in poverty by two people I trust.

Thanks to wonderful Gotham members Sonia and Gail, I went to Charity Navigators and looked the adoption site up and it has good reviews. Great, its legit.

The "issue" for me is that this organization is so Christian that they teach the adoptees the "gospel" as well as givng them healthcare, education, recreation and protection. I have nothing in particular against Christians, I just think its one of a thousand religions that could be taught. Why teach any? Upon futher investigation, I did find that they don't require the children to be "Christ followers," to get support. So that is another plus.

Love is religion

I feel like its not quite giving when you have to sell something with it.

Anyway, I did adopt little Ivan from Uganda, because the "good" outweighed the "bad." And because I trust the people who sent the emails.

Love to know your thoughts on this.

“I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.”
― John Lennon
