As the gardner in my house, I've learned a few things.

  • Digging in the dirt is theraputic
  • I love to trim trees and bushes but don't like cleaning up
  • Weeds are the freeloaders of the garden world
  • It's amazing how resilient plants are, especially weeds
  • Gardening can be really tiring and tough on the back
  • It feels like I'm contributing to a greener planet (pun intended)

Do you dig in the dirt? Give it a try, you might like it ;)

Agree on not cleaning up post clipping (and sore back)

I enjoy pruning the bushes and trimming trees. I just can't do it much as the weather down south gets too hot. We have learned to either start projects very early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the strongest sun times. But the cleanup is the worst.

Good timing on the blog. Today was vegetable garden day. Planted some tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. it's great to watch everything grow and to harvest later in the season. No shortage of cucumber salad at my house in the summertime.

LOVE this. Are you aware of "Earthing"? The new movement on how working with earth actually heals? For example, they are finding that farmers and lumber jacks actually have healthier life spans and fewer morbidities than city dwellers.
