A June at Madison Square Garden just shy of five decades ago was the last time I saw this band live in concert.  I won a lottery then.  You needed to mail in a self-addressed stamped envelope to get an opportunity to purchase.  Oh how times have changed. You just need to get on the right presale list, sign on to your Ticketmaster or LiveNation account (for now it is same company but the US Department of Justice seeks to break it all up) and get in cue.
Here's a sign that indicates you're in a nice town.    Imagine driving along when you notice a digital traffic sign posts the your speed blinks "Too fast...Slow Down." Instead of continuing to post your speed as you slow down, this nice sign flashes a cheerful "Thank You!" as your speed matches the limit.   What a pleasant interaction. I'm happy the sign is in the town I live, Sea Cliff ;)
This past Sunday, Gotham and Jason Greenberg presented its 8th, the first in person since the pandemic, Battle of the Bands competition at Gothamite William Skody's Club Groove in the heart of Greenwich Village on fabled Macdougal Street.
It took only a few days after the candidate won her primary for me to start getting email solicitations from her. Soon, I expect, I’ll be getting text messages from her.
One of the things I love the most about Gotham is the plethora of options available to follow one’s passions and express oneself, that ventures well beyond business networking!      Friday happy hours, cocktail parties in the TWA terminal at JFK airport, pizza crawls, golf, bowling, Yankees at Mets games at Citifield, softball, sports blogs, “Gotham Green,” Encores and BOB aka Battle Of the Bands, just to name a few.
Have any?    I’m starting to think about the summer and wondering where we might run for a quick weekend or two.  No big plans in our future, I’m afraid, but a quick getaway or two sounds nice.
I sat last week in my doctor’s waiting room for over an hour waiting to be seen (why doctors can keep people waiting for over an hour is the subject of another blog).
You may already heard about it. Read about it (Friday’s blogger blogged about it two days ago.). Listened to it. Maybe you were there. All I know is I keep humming this song (see the title of this blog.). From a LP of the same name some 55 years old. A really good one.
