I wanted to follow up on Mitch’s blog on Saturday. He wrote a moving blog asking us to “pause for a moment and ask yourself what happened to you over the past week that gave you a moment of joy.”
On of my fave bands during high school was Yes. Saw them at Madison Square Garden and the Nassau Coliseum. I particularly loved the LP Close to the Edge (which includes my fave Yes song, And You And I, which provides the title of today's blog) and the live LP, Yessongs. I missed lead singer Jon Anderson the last two times I saw the band in 2009 and 2017. As I recall things, a health issue caused him to miss the first tout; it never became clear to me why he never rejoined the band.
Have you noticed that the smallest moments can be incredibly impactful? If you haven't, pause for a moment and ask yourself what happened to you over the past week that gave you a moment of joy. If you're having difficulty thinking of one, here's a list: Laughing out loud A great hugHaving a meaningful conversationReceiving genuine praiseCooking or tasting a delicious homemade mealEnjoying a surprise visit or call from a friend or family member
One of the most frustrating and torturous 21st Century experiences is telephoning a service provider to request a repair. It is maddening and drives me crazy!
I have noticed on several occasions, that being like minded about a professional team can break down walls. Some of the judges I appear in front of like to have conversations with my clients regarding their favorite teams, which is a great ice breaker. Even the new Pope has a say in this.
This year, none of my kids was able to make it home for Mother’s Day. That’s ok.
Are you a gossip?
I will admit that, in the past, I have been a gossip. I cannot tell you how many times I heard friends or colleagues start a sentence with, “Don’t tell anyone I told you this but. . .”
I will acknowledge that, in the past, that I would follow up with the expected answer, “Of course, I wouldn’t. What do you want to tell me?”
