Sorry, this is a rather long blog.
Recently, I was trying to organize some thoughts around an upcoming presentation. It was not a conversation about the law, but instead a practical conversation.
I knew it was coming. First, I received the questionnaire. And then a month later it followed: the summons for jury duty.
I was last summoned for jury duty about eight years ago and I was let go the first afternoon.
Marisa and I attended a very special 80th birthday party, last Wednesday (May 28, 2025). We very much enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member (with Creedence Clearwater Revival) John Fogerty. John performed on his 80th at The Beacon Theatre, probably the most beautiful venue in which to attend any show.
Last weekend, I smoked ribs and grilled chicken. Then on Monday, I smoked a chuck roast using the same method I would for brisket — and let me tell you, it’s my new go-to! It’s much cheaper than a brisket and way smaller, which is perfect for just two people. As usual, I used my homemade rub on the meats — the same one my uncle and sister have been urging me to sell under the name “Mitch’s Magic Rub.” If I decide to embark on that journey, I’ll need to play chemist: carefully measuring, testing, and tweaking the recipe to perfect the formula.
Since I was young, I have been compelled to take pictures (pics in modern parlance). First on film and now updated to digital. My iPhone camera allows for "in the moment" candid shots, instant editing and is cost free. Not to mention the ability to share and upload to the internet.
I was invited to an event yesterday afternoon. Instead of attending, I had tolet them know that rather than making a toast at the event, I would probably make everyone sick.
