When the Mountain Changes

I recently heard a story about two guys climbing a mountain.

Everything was planned. They knew the route and had the gear. This was supposed to be a straightforward climb. Then the weather turned out of nowhere. Visibility was gone, and the trail was wiped out. One of them said, “This isn’t the climb we signed up for.”

And he was right.

The other guy didn’t try to spin it. He just said, “Then we stop pretending it is.”

So they adjusted.

They stopped thinking about the summit and stopped worrying about how fast they were moving. It became about one step at a time. Some days, they made progress. Some days, they just held their ground.

And that was enough.

Life isn’t about having all the answers or being strong all the time. It’s just about taking the next step, however that looks today.
