Those who follow me on twitter and some others there and Friday’s blogger know Shelly and I enjoyed a proud parent moment last week. Mid-morning Friday, our son texted “Tweeted out my new article.” I replied “I’ll look congrats” and opened twitter, search out my son’s account to find his article, which appeared in the prestigious journal, Demography. Jonathan, a Senior Research Scientist at Guttmacher Institute, lead authored Does the Impact of Motherhood on Women's Employmen...
(Editor’s note:  This blog got superseded by “Ruth” last week in recognition of the passing of the true Wonderwoman)   I enjoy recognizing those who make a difference in our communities and the world.  This explains my involvement in the Gotham Green Awards®.  Established by Gotham City Networking, Inc.® and GOtham GREEN®, the awards recognize people, businesses and organizations that work on environmentally sustainable initiatives and projects. GOtham GREEN® provides a platf...
After I put last week’s blog to bed, I noticed responses on twitter to a New York Times column that appeared on line last weekend – ahead of its appearance in print, one week ago today. The op-ed played on the apparent rejection by Queens residents of Amazon. His page said he joined Twitter in March 2009 – one month after me – and tweeted 474 times over the eight plus years on the platform. I do not think I tweet enough but I my total runs mor...

Watching the news unfold this weekend with demonstrations at the NYC airports and blocks away from where my Gotham Power Breakfast meets in downtown Brooklyn and places across the country, I found myself looking through my twitter and looking at my fave cable news outlet, NY1. A Day In The Life immediately came to mind.   Last week I discussed how my iPad afforded me some Freedom in how I look at news in the morning and throughout the day (comments still welcome). In a time ...

So I went to the Twitter Trending topics page and the first three topics I saw were:   1. Kyle Schwarber -  had absolutely NO idea who that was, but World Series fans will know that he is an outfielder* that has just been added to the Cubs roster for the games. *originally I called him a pitcher, FK told me he is not.   2. Pablo Picasso - definitely knew who he was. It's his birthday, so the Twitter family was loving him.     3. Colin Powell - Yes, I know who he is too. Tren...
