A really long shot for Hillary
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Here's something for you to ponder...according to the Constitution, chosen electors of the Electroal College are the real people who will vote for president, when they meet on Dec. 19th in their respective state capitals.   There is technically nothing stopping any of the electors from voting their conscience and refusing to support the candidate t

Are you ready?

Not for the election Tuesday, Fred covered that yesterday. This is about something much bigger.   We’re about to see the biggest supermoon in more than 60 years – and there won’t be another until 2034.   On November 14 at 9:52 AM, the moon will be the closest to Earth it has been since 1948. The moon is expected to be 14% bigger and 30% brighter, m

A new issue for the election

A 63 year oid man, Alan Sorrentino, sent a letter to a small (5,000 circ.) Rhode Island newspaper criticizing women who wear yoga pants in public. He described yoga pants as "stinky, tacky, ridiculous looking."   "They do nothing to compliment a woman over 20 years old,” he wrote in the letter, which was published on Wednesday. “In fact, the look i

Beards
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

They're in style and many men have grown them in many different lengths.   Fred shaves his off and grows it back several times during the year. A friend of mine wears a goatee and extends it to a full beard then shaves it back.   I've had mine for a very long time...30+ years. I can't remember not having a beard. I look at pictures of myself withou

It's the lemonade
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

A 7 year old young man just bought what he has dreamed about...a pony. Sabastion Lucas from Australia sold lemonade for 3 years to save up enough money to purchase his new pony Tom.     Sabastian makes his lemonade with lemon and sugar and sells it for 20 cents a cup. It became so popular he would regularly sell out.   I think we should make him a

Maybe...maybe not
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

After a 60th birthday party in Saratoga tonight and a wedding in Maryland Sunday, we're heading to Myrtle Beach on Monday. Then again Matthew may have something to say about it as it pounds the Carolina coast this morning.   It's a game time decision whether we go or not. There are automatic no-go factors and ones that could sway me either way. For

B Generous
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

That was on a license plate I noticed yesterday and I started to wonder...   I know many people who are generous with their time and money...even if it is in a small way. For myself, I am generous to a fault, especially in business.   I give my time and efforts to many pursuits that are not profitable. My Father and I used to discuss that quite a b

Let's stay healthy

A hug a day...   Yes it's true. A study published by Carnegie Mellon suggests that, in addition to making us feel connected with others, hugs may prevent us from getting sick. You might think that hugging hundreds of strangers would increase your exposure to germs and therefore the likelihood of falling ill. But the research out of Carnegie Mellon

For all that's left
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

What's left after a bruising battle, a war, a conflict, an argument? Raw feelings, resolution, terror....? Can we as a country feel unified? Did we ever?   We are fed a stream of news that is divisive and lopsided, you can pick the side. Social media feeds us what we want to hear...not what we should hear. Yes...it's true. Social media keeps track

Beer taster needed
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Yes it's true. Walled City Brewery in Londonderry, Northern Ireland posted an advertisement in a local newspaper seeking a 'beer taster.' The lucky person will be required to taste up to 40 craft beers once a month.   And get this..."Training will be provided but ideally we are looking for an understanding of the nature of craft beers, for someone

A day that won't go away
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Two months ago, Joshua Justice was working his manager shift at the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium—a small chain of UFO-themed brewpubs—located in Houston, Texas when he spilled a large amount of liquid on his pants. Bummer.   Thanks to a passing car equipped with Google Street View camera, that day has been preserved for all to see. Double Bummer

Olympic signs
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

From Rio de Janeiro, an Olyimpic athlete shared a photo of this quite unusual bathroom sign banning throwing toilet paper into toilets -- and using commodes as fishing holes (lower left) among other uses.     Delle Donne, the Olympian who posted this said "Guess I won't be toilet fishing today."   I think they'll need more graphics in Tokyo if Rya

At what cost
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

I enjoy watching the Olympics. I'm always amazed at the dedication, drive and committment these athletes make to test their skills and athletic prowess once every four years. The sheer beauty of the venue, athletes and host country is truly spectacular.   However, as Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel reported on their recent show about the IOC and t

Olympic green
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Now two pools at the Olympics have turned green. There's a strange brew going on in that aquatic center.   They've shut them down and the athletes are not interested in diving into green water. Although the "commitee" says it's okay, Tom Stenfort tweeted this yesterday...     I thought this was Brazil's attempt at doing something different...

The magic pass
Posted By : Mitch Tobol

Not being a frequent visitor to Citifield I did not know the parking situation. Fred had suggested I buy a parking pass for the Gotham Met/Yankee game last Monday. Little did I know that it was a magic pass.   As we (Jake, Fred, Joanne and I) approached the stadium, we had to pass through a myriad of police, security guard and employee checkpoints.
