Saturday in the Park.

It’s one of my fave songs by Chicago, a band that in her teens Shelly described herself as a “groupie” and a fan of its original bassist, Peter Cetera. The title aptly describes our afternoon plans yesterday; we decided to head over to Flushing Meadows Corona Park so Shelly could ride her bike. We had tuned it up the previous Saturday afternoon. Early yesterday morning we discussed her riding her bike. Usually I take a book or my home delivered New York Times which included some Sunday sections to read. It worked out that I completed my reading ahead so I took my iPad and iPhone (to listen to some podcasts). These mobile devices certainly empower me to extend my outdoor office (which has yet to open in 2025) to any park – and as it worked out I also drafted a memo to a friend with whom I am working on project for non-profit.

While Shelly rode, I noticed also how busy the parking lot on the north side of the Queens Museum was. It’s also the closest lot to the Unisphere. As soon as one car left its spot, another in waiting filled in.

I muse what park we visit next time she opts to ride.
