You may know I chair the board of director of Services Now for Adults Person, Inc. (“SNAP”) which also includes two fellow Gothamites – Mindy Stern and Renee Richter on its board. SNAP provides direct services to enhance the quality of life of older adults. Operating senior centers serving northeast and southeast Queens, SNAP also delivers meals on wheels, case management and transportation. Its caregivers program serves about half of the borough of Queens.

We are building a new facility on the site of the Bellerose Jewish Center’s former sanctuary building in Floral Park. As we work towards that aim we also endeavor to increase the reach and variety of programs for seniors and their families.

To support of government funded efforts, we raise money privately through a number of means, including our annual fundraising dinner/dance — we call it our Annual Summer Wine Down, Friday evening, September 20 at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston Queens.

It is a fun event. Our construction Attorney, Gotham’s Steve Glassberg will attest to that fact! Shelly and I look forward to it.

p.s. When I contributed to Gotham’s Season of Giving this year, my business card (printed by Gotham members Scott Levine’s Minuteman Bellerose and redesigned by Scott’s associate and GQ chair Fred Morante) submitted with my donation contains the acronym SNAP (and I hope Michael Garibaldi (hint hint) pulls my card among the deserving others).
