Pendulum Swings

Pendulum Swings

All around me, I hear people (on both sides of the aisle) voicing their angst with our turbulent state of politics and, although empathetic, I calm myself by thoughts of how, historically, the pendulum usually swings.

As we approach next year's midterm congressional elections, I know that in 22 of the last 24 midterm elections the President's party lost ground in the House of Representatives.

When I was young, our country was ravaged by the "Red Scare" and McCarthyism.  However, that passed and I experienced the political pendulum swing back to the middle.

I take solice in that we may learn from history!

Amen! But I do believe that this digital age has put us in a more dangerous era… the forces of pure evil that surrounds him and ignorance of the electorate and fear he has promulgated in many may signal the coming fall of this nation. We are a very young country and history tells that every nation has its rise and fall over time. Too many are not paying attention or too struggling to survive. We have three more years of this chaos and ever widening divide and I fear the pendulum is far down the road for this country. I can only hope and pray now.

I agree, the pendulum does swing. But I think we're in for a longer haul than the McCarthy era.
I was a reader from a very young age and although I was aware of turmoil, I didn't have the depth of understanding and reason that I do now. At least the economy was better/affordable/stable mid fifties. I am afeared; not afraid but deeper, scarier... afeared. Afeared for my granddaughters, elderly friends and acquaintances.
Doesn't calling US Generals to meet in DC as a group of nearly 1k alarm you. Hitler did that and had them swear a new oath to him directly, not the government of the people.
I'm too old to relocate to Canada, Italy or even Germany (!).

I've always felt this way, However, with this administration, I don't trust elections. Will we even have one in 2028?
