Both Nancy and Mitch wrote about AI this week. I just had to add my recent experience.
I was following up with two mediation clients, both of whom are highly successful professionals. At the previous session we had ended with a discussion as to whether one of them would rather take part of their equitable distribution in the form of a credit towards the value of a second apartment the parties owned or in the form of additional funds from a joint account.
At the beginning of the most recent session, I asked what decision had been reached. I was told the decision. I was then surprised to hear that, rather than consulting an accountant or investment advisor, the spouse who needed to make the decision asked AI what to do. As the mediator, I generally do not ask the reasoning behind decisions after they are initially discussed in mediation. Given the source of the source of the reasoning, I had to ask. The AI reasoning was surprisingly sound.
I have used AI to help me outline questions for a deposition for a subject that I did not have much familiarity with. But I have not gone beyond that. Have you used it to help you make a decision? Would you?
