Letting Go Of Cable

Letting Go Of Cable

Our cable tv went out last Tuesday morning. We did not even notice it until 11:00 p.m. when we went to turn on the local network news.

Our cable company’s response time was, surprisingly quick. They determined that it was probably the box and sent a new one via overnight mail.  The cable, however, was still not working after we installed the new box. So, we have a technician coming on Tuesday.

But the week we have gone without cable has taught me something. Almost all of the shows I enjoy watching on television are through streaming services. The only network television we really watch is the local 11:00 news. And this week we have been watching the national news-commercial free-on a streaming service.

Here’s my quandary. While setting up the service appointment we spoke to the billing department about a credit. Which they gave us. But they discussed with us how much we spend on cable every month while trying to convince us to change our plan. And my husband and I looked at one another when we hung up and asked ourselves the questions, “Is it really worth it? Do we need cable?”

I am hesitant to let go of cable television, but we really are not using it.  Have you made the cut from cable? If so, do you regret the decision or are you happy with it?
