This blog is not so much about the story that I’m relaying. This blog is about trust.

The same woman, Rachel, has been cutting and coloring my hair for the past ten years. On Saturday morning, I had an 9:00 a.m. appointment for a cut and color. The salon called me early in the morning to tell me that Rachel was ill and would not be coming in. The salon’s offer was either I could reschedule my appointment with Rachel  or they had someone else available on saturday morning to cut and color my hair. The choice was mine.

I hesitated before I made a decision. I was concerned about trusting my hair, and therefore my appearance, to someone else. Knowing that it would be difficult to get to the salon again in the next couple of weeks-and seeing the amount of gray that was present in my hair-I decided to be trusting and let someone else do my hair.

I was very proud of my trusting self as I walked into the salon and met Amanda, who would be coloring my hair. As I sat in the chair, Amanda started looking at my hair and said, “Would you like to hear my suggestions as to your hair color or should I just follow the card Rachel keeps for you?” In a heartbeat I responded, “Follow Rachel’s card.”

So, I guess I can be trusting, but only up to a certain point. How about you?
