I have seen so many articles lately which tout the importance of consistent nightly sleep. Apparently, some of the few benefits of having healthy sleep patterns are improvement in memory, reduction of stress and anxiety, aid in weight loss, reduction in inflammation, a sharper focus, and, essentially, help you live longer.

 

I, admittedly, have horrible sleep patterns. I am definitely not consistent in when I go to sleep or how long I sleep. Some nights during the week, I’ll stay up until 1:00 a.m. reading or watching television knowing I have to get up early the next morning. Other weekday evenings, I’ll fall asleep early while watching television, wake up at about 10:00 and stay up late.

 

Sleeps aids have become a huge business. I have purchased natural sleep aids such as melatonin, skin lotion with chamomile as well as herbal teas which promote healthy sleep. But still my unhealthy sleep habits continue. How do you sleep?
