Last week the news reported that a thirty-two-year-old man had died after riding the “Stardust Racers” extreme roller coaster at Epic Universe. So far, investigators have ruled the manner of death an accident. The victim, according to the medical examiner had sustained “multiple blunt impact injuries.”
While I can appreciate and enjoy smaller roller coasters, I was never a fan of extreme roller coasters. With their dizzying drops, wild loops, and speeds that blur your vision, I assume that the allure is to push riders to their limits. For me, it is not something I want to experience. I much prefer the virtual reality rides like the Avatar ride in Universal that simulates flying over the landscape of Pandora or the Star Wars ride at Disney that simulates an epic battle in the Star Wars universe.
Being thrown into a freefall, sudden weightlessness, dizzyingly loops, are definitely not my idea of fun. Are they for you? Why?
