What If Bumper Stickers Told the Truth?
The other day, I was driving down the road when I found myself behind a car with a bumper sticker that read, "New Driver." I appreciated the warning because it gave me a little insight into who was behind the wheel and what I might expect. But then I started thinking.
What if we all had bumper stickers that told other drivers something about us? Honest, unfiltered descriptions of our driving habits.
Imagine the possibilities...
"Forgive Me. I Like to Drive Fast."
"Stay Away. I'm on My Phone and Can't Pay Attention."
"I'm Old, and I Don't Give a S***t"
"I Don't Believe in Turn Signals. I Like Surprises."
"My Car Has a Horn, and I'm Not Afraid to Use It."
"I'm a Great Driver. Everyone Else Is an Idiot."
We spend a lot of time judging other drivers without knowing anything about them. The person driving too slowly might be nervous. The one who just cut us off might be distracted. And the person honking behind us? Well, maybe they just really need to use the bathroom.
Maybe the best bumper sticker for all of us would be:
"I'm Doing the Best I Can. Please Be Patient."

I like the concept of truthful bumper stickers. I just don't like them in general as they cause a few more accidents when people try to read them as they drive.
