An Ohio judge came up with a unique solution to punish a 62-year-old man who was found guilty of harassing his neighbors over the course of a 15-year feud.

As a punishment, Edmond Aviv will be forced to stand outside on Sunday for five hours with a sign that reads: "I AM A BULLY! I pick on children that are disabled, and I am intolerant of those that are different from myself. My actions do not reflect an appreciation for the diverse South Euclid community that I live in."

In addition to the sign, Aviv was also sentenced to 15 days in jail, seven months on probation, 100 hours of community service, anger management classes and personal counseling.

Edmond was doing very strange and nasty things all because his neighbors had adopted two black children with developmental disabilities.

Should we start putting signs on convicted criminals and force them to stand outside? I wonder what Madoff's sign would say...

Shame is a powerful motivator and deterrent.

I applaud the Judge's decision.

Alternative sentencing should make sense and often saves society a lot of cash. For me, the issue is whether this man will rehabilitate. I think the probation should extend much longer, perhaps to three years or more.

I think it was very inventive. Public shame.

Scarlet Letter "A" to be worn on his shirtfront. I leave it to you to determine what the "A" stands for....

I recall a scene from a Bruce Willis movie where he was forced to satnd in the middle of Harlem wearing a sandwich board with anti black racial slurs.

Very inventive on the judge's part. I like it. We need more public shaming... because many people no longer have a sense of shame.
