My Pocket Calendar
For years, in fact for my entire professional life, I’ve had a pocket-sized calendar. As suit jackets were replaced, the calendar made its way from the breast pocket to a pants pocket, but it was always accessible and constantly referenced.
Its importance was beyond question. And then came its nemesis— the smartphone - with its calendar, reminders, drop-downs, alerts and noises.
Being the traditionalist, I still had my pocket calendar, although I slowly came to rely on my smartphone (which is conveniently linked to my office, desktop and Flo’s calendar). The co-dependency has morphed into a triple-entry calendar system between my phone, pocket and desk calendars.
As the new year approaches and the 2027 pocket calendar goes on sale, I wonder whether my system is really necessary?
