I’ve noticed that on long airline flights, Americans—especially  me—have embraced the idea that pseudo pajamas are perfectly acceptable travel attire, as long as we call them “loungewear.” 

Yet on some flights to and from the United Kingdom, I’ll see passengers who still seem to believe that flying is an occasion—men in blazers, women with full makeup and dresses—while I’m sitting there in stretchy pants wondering if I can pass them off as business casual.  

They look like they’re headed to afternoon tea while I clearly look like I’m headed to bed. At this point, I’m just hoping my pajamas or lounge wear don’t embarrass the country. What do you wear on transatlantic flights?
