Anyone knowing my calendar could expect another blog about a show; it needs to wait.  Bumped by a proud parent moment.  Midweek, just after noon, our talent daughter texted her mom and dad: “I just won the AJC 2026 Champion of Innovation Award.  

AJC is the acronym for American Jewish Committee, the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people.  Marisa serves as Assistant Director in its New York Regional Office. She leads efforts at the intersection of government affairs, interreligious engagement, and public policy in one of the world’s most complex civic environments.

AJC announced her award during an agency-wide call.  it reflected how she lead AJC’s strategic response to the evolving New York political climate.  When we discuss what needs to be done, I find myself incredibly in sync with this mature young professional who pairs sound political judgment with a collaborative approach to complex challenges.  I kvell over her commitment to building durable progress through serious engagement, institutional partnership, and principled leadership.

Indeed, during our last chat she impressed me with her vision of what our community and its institutions needs to focus on; imperative that we follow her advice.

Marisa received her bachelor's degree from SUNY Purchase and earned a master of science in Global Studies and International Relations with a concentration in Conflict Resolution and a regional focus on the Middle East at Northeastern University.
