The other night, I woke up in a fright in the middle of the night.  I had been in a deep sleep. I can't remember the details of the dream I was having, but I know it was one of those scary ones.

I woke up on the edge of sleep to three loud bangs in succession.  It sounded like someone banging on my front door -- or maybe a branch hitting against a back window.  Or maybe it was just part of my dream

My eyes swung wide open and I sat, listened and pulled my phone close.  It was so very real.

When no sounds followed, I decided to go back to sleep -- or at least to try.

Was it part of my dream?  A tree branch hitting a window?

Who knows!
