Here's hoping...

I keep checking on my friends in Florida. The internet is great for that.

I do, and I also have offered my home to relatives and colleagues in the storm's path. Everyone seems determined to remain in place, and have assured me they have plans in place and that years of history have prepared them. As Rona, I continue to touch base.

With multiple properties down south, several waterfront, my interest is quite high in Florida. Unfortunately, the media hypes things to an extent of causing unnecessary panic. Should you be prepared, yes. Should you leave the area, that depends on your comfort level. I always say, be safe and do what your gut says you should do. But I too was watching all weekend what was a planned Cat 5 direct hit back on Friday, to now likely some storm surging on the coastal areas and rain, most people should be fine. Tomorrow morning we will know more. My realtor friends say all is calm there now in coastal central Florida. I think we got lucky, but enough with the 24/7 coverage raising everyone's blood pressure to basically garner extra ratings. Hurricane's are too unpredictable and people will become complacent when the storm doesn't hit, causing more harm in future warnings when they are ignored.

My parent house down in Palm Beach was directly in the oath for a while. Glad they are still up here with us. My heart breaks for all those in the Bahamas - they took the brunt for two whole days!
