Anyone Watching with Me?
Posted By : Nancy Schess

We have just discovered The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I know the show is in its third season but the binging in our house has just begun. We are classically behind the times. But it’s now time to catch up. We are almost finished with the first season. The writing is quick and witty and the characters strong. Some perhaps too strong. But Rachel Bros

Wearing White
Posted By : Rona Gura

My sister-in-law--whom I love-- and I were together last weekend. She was wearing a beautiful white sweater with a white vest. I had on a light grey sweater.    By the end of the evening, my grey sweater was stained in two places. My sister-in-law’s sweater, however, looked as fresh and clean as it did when she first walked into the room.

Interesting...

An interesting week ended yesterday. My (football) team grossly disappointed (again)! A couple of parties. My (basketball) team unceremonious dumped its coach. I earned some CLE credits A very nice show. A couple of dinners out with good friends. My (baseball) team anticipates an ownership change that excites a lot of folk. Just let’s say when I de

Very few times

It's not often I find myself speechless yet last Tuesday night I did.   Receiving the Red Bandana award was an unbelievable surprise for me as well as all of the deserving award recipients as Fred wrote about in his blog yesterday. My wife, Pam, also suprised me that night showing up for the presentation. Tears welled up as I felt awash with gratit

Surprise!
Posted By : Fred Klein

Have you ever thrown a Surprise Party?   Was it a success?  Was the Secret kept?  Was the recipient surprised?Well on Tuesday night Gotham held it’s annual Holiday Party and we did it all as surprises abounded!By my count there were at least 7 surprises and it was just great, as it’s always better to surprise than be surprised. The first surprises

Distracted ?
Posted By : Benjamin Geizhals

It is said that we live in interesting times. Regardless of one’s political leanings and perspective, it is hard to deny that we are witnessing history being made. But interesting and historic times can also be distracting. People question one another about being a news junky. With notifications bombarding us it is hard to avoid. How distract

Ugh! What does late communicate?
Posted By : Carly Bentley

When it comes to being a time, it seems there are two distinctly different types of people. Those that are On-Time and those that are Late. English author Edward Verrall Lucas said "I have noticed that people who are late are much jollier than the people who have to wait for them." Grrr... Depending what culture you come from or what culture you're

Thanksgiving Eve
Posted By : Nancy Schess

The turkey was finished, leftovers put away, kitchen cleaned, floor mopped, and garbage was at the curb. It was a long, fun, day spent with family and good friends. During our clean up, my daughter asked if I would consider doing some midnight shopping with her at our local outlet. My son was going with his friends and the idea tickled her too

Express Shopping

On the way back to the office from court last week, I decided to do a quick stop at the grocery store. I needed two items for home and wanted to multitask by also picking up something for lunch. While the store was crowded, I thought I could just get on the Express Line with my three items and be out of the store within minutes. I was wrong.

Light Up This Holiday Season

Light up this holiday season with song.  Continuing a Gotham tradition inspired by Friday's blogger (and which preceded this blog; used to just be a post to Fredslist), please find and enjoy the latest version of Happy Holidays in Song.  In three weeks some of us start with lighting candles.  Three eves later, the holiday that inspires the bulk of

I was surprised by a comment on last week’s “50 Years” blog (which the commenter describe as “beautiful”), saying “I have learned so much from you.” When I responded “You’re too nice” the commenter said  “No I’m honest. You have an amazing way of speaking the truth that is raw and real (not always what someone wants to hear but something I value).”

The BIG Bird

Thanksgiving does provide a platform of focus on our gratitude for gifts bestowed. Over the past two weeks there have been spiritual moments commanding reflection internally, of which I have found profoundly inspirational. Actively taking inventory of my relationships and applying the philosophical question of “WHY are they in my life and WHAT is n

The Power of Thank You
Posted By : Nancy Schess

Friday night I received an email from a client. We had been working on a difficult project together. His email, however, was a simple and genuine thank you for my help. It made me stop what I was doing. The power of genuine gratitude cannot be underestimated. Sometimes around a Gotham table we ask not only what you do but why you do it. Nearly
