Our flight was scheduled to leave NYC at 9:36 pm Friday night. It did not.
At some point, we lost count of the number of delays. Soon, it was almost midnight, and we learned that while the flight crew had arrived, the pilot had timed out. What did that mean? You guessed it, no flight out of LaGuardia that night.
We were given several unattractive alternatives, including a flight at 8:15 the next morning. That became the delayed flight from 9:36 the previous evening where our luggage was happily napping.
Now, we had a decision to make. It was close to 1 am. We had to be back at the airport just after 6 am. The new Delta terminal has what seemed like a whole wing of sleeping loungers. I have to say it did not bode well as we approached the gate earlier in the evening that wing was full.
But at 1 am, there were definitely spots for us if we chose to stay. Or, we could have chosen to take an Uber home sleep for a few short hours and come back to the airport.
I know what we did. [Hint, I wasn’t a fan of the sleeping loungers.] What would you have done?
