Forgiveness or approval?

Do you usually seek approval before taking action or ask for forgiveness after the fact? Both have it's plus's and minus's.

Seeking approval fosters trust and open communication, creating a supportive environment for collaboration and cooperation. However, it can lead to indecisiveness, a lack of personal autonomy, hindering personal growth and development. It also can be time-consuming.

Making a decision without prior consent and seeking forgiveness from those affected by our actions afterward demonstrates confidence in one's decision-making abilities, as well as the willingness to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions. However the consequences can erode trust with others, as it may appear inconsiderate or careless of their feelings and opinions. It can also cause irreparable harm.

I've usually sought approval first but more and more I seem to be just doing it.
