What do I know ...

What do I know ...

I’ve been fascinated by human physiology since I was a kid. Over the years, I’ve attended workshops, read books and articles, and spoken with medical experts. So, it’s no surprise that I ultimately found my way to owning a health and wellness business. The thing is that I’m still not a medical expert, and so when I was asked to give a presentation on gut health at a local community center, my first reaction was to decline. But I said, “Yes!”

Expertise is not always what people want. They want to be empowered to take control of their own health and well-being, not just to be told what to do. They want information and to understand their options. My goal is to share what I do know, help people understand what questions to ask, and know where to find the answers.

Too many people claim expertise and take advantage of their audience by presenting speculative assumptions and fabrications with certainty. Ignorance cloaked in certainty is dangerous.

Being an “expert” isn’t always about having all the answers; it’s about knowing what questions to ask. In a world that’s constantly changing, it’s impossible to know absolutely everything about anything.

How do you determine whom to follow?
