I was recently asked for advice by someone who is transitioning from school to the work force. The following are my Top Ten Work Tactics which I shared with her:
1) Show up! Every day. No sick days. Be someone to rely upon.
2) Prepare, no, over prepare! Be ready for any contingency.
3) Work hard, real hard! They may be smarter, but they can be out worked.
4) Be personable and latch on to a mentor!
5) Be persistent! Never quit!
6) Learn from your mistakes! Never make the same mistake twice.
7) Ask questions! You never know unless you do.
8) Socialize out of work and build bonds!
9) Be competitive, but don’t appear so!
10) Try to find sustenance in your work!
I never really thought about it and I appreciate the question!

I agree but unfortunately it may be somewhat outdated or even impossible considering how the work force operates today. Especially with so many working remotely much of the time.
