Tomorrow celebrates Michael Jordan's 50th birthday and the pundits and analysts were wondering on radio and TV if he is the best player of all time.

Names that are being tossed about; Wilt Chamberlin, Kareem Abdul Jabar and LeBron James. But for my money I'd have to say Bill Russell is/was the best. Although he was a Celtic (I'm a Knicks fan so he is not my favorite by far) he won 11 championships with them. He also won two consecutive NCAA championships and a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Mr. Russell holds holds the record for the most championships won by an athlete in a North American sports league.

He was the complete player. As a center he blocked shots, rebounded, passed and could score almost any time he wanted to. Without him, the Celtics couldn't win anything.
