As Fred the K says, strange days...

One thing I am fascinated by is the concept of a sole survivor.

Are they racked with guilt or do they thrive on their good fortune?

Recently, I heard a story from a Doctor whose sister died on 9/11/01. She worked for Compaq and was having a big power breakfast at Windows on the World. She and her team had gotten there early to make sure everything was set up. They were enjoying a cup of coffee when one gentleman spilled coffee on his shirt, she immediately sent him down to get a new shirt. He survived, the rest of the team didn't.

Life Preserver

Another story I recently came across (on the FB!) was about Julie Koepcke, 17 years old, on Christmas Eve 1971, was flying with her mother to meet up with her father when the commercial airliner they were on was struck by lightning. The plane broke apart. Julie fell 2 miles to the ground, strapped in her seat landing in the middle of the Amazon jungle. She survived for 10 days in the jungle alone, including pouring gasoline on her maggot infested wound, and was found by loggers. She was the only survivor of the crash. She is still alive.

Our own Ben Geizhals mom, Esther, at age 10, survived the concentration camps. And she is the ideal of love and forgiveness. I don't know how she got through all that, but she is my forgiveness and kindness mentor.

Whats my point? The same old point, all we have is today, lets enjoy and spread kindness.
