Much has been written about the collapse of the Mets. And much may still be written as the club and the fans sort through excuses, reasons and remedies.
While the highly-anticipated run for the division against the Phillies never materialized, the ultimate failure to play in October was one game that they didn’t win.
As the season wore down and we started counting games in earnest, I kept thinking about those games earlier in the season and one game that they could have, should have, won.
The takeaway? There may be 162 games - it’s a long season - but every game counts.
