We are having a new member orientation today. We haven’t had one in a while and I am looking forward to it.

At these sessions we get to talk about Gotham history and lore and what we have learned about how members can maximize their Gotham experience. We know that Gotham is big and there are so many opportunities to make new friends but that can be overwhelming. We started doing these sessions years ago to try to share some tips for getting the most out of Gotham.

My “top 10” list starts with getting to know the members of your group, and wanders to Riding the Circuit and of course, effectively using fredslist and our blogs.

What’s on your list? Let’s share with our new members our not-so-secret tips for maximizing Gotham.

Face to face interaction, beyond the scheduled meetings; fondly referred to as Coffee Talk. Grow your base by Riding the Circuit. Good ol' fashion commitment to contributing time, talent and resource.

Participation! Gotham provides many opportunities to create, cultivate and maintain relationships. Find the opportunities you enjoy and participate.

    Welcome to the Tribe!

"It's Better to Give Than Receive...". That requires work, you need to meet and get to know your fellow members, have coffee, get together. It is much easier to recommend or help someone when you know what they do, and what they are looking for.

Gotham is terrific - to get the most out of it, put in the effort, it is well worth it.

Meeting outside of normal group meetings as others have said. But also being consistant with your attendance at your group's regular time while getting there early and staying after the group officially breaks up for some extra one on one time to get to know people better.
