Did anyone else up here in the Northeast have this experience with me over the weekend?

On relatively short notice, a hurricane was heading our way. I am a pretty cautious person and so started preparing. (Truth be told, I had the easy job – it was all about food).

But, when the Nassau County officials and (then) Governor Cuomo started warning that this event could harken to Superstorm Sandy, that sent me into overdrive.

We (ok, really Bill), spent Saturday taking in anything that could fly (as I was singing the Wicked Witch song from the Wizard of Oz). After all of the plants that were outside moved into my garage, it literally started to smell like a nursery. And then of course there are the crickets that came inside the garage with the plants.

I insisted on running to Oceanside to scoop up my mom. She and my dad had lived through Sandy and lost the entire first floor of their house and two cars at the time. The thought of her alone in the house – well, it was too much for me. Honestly, she wasn’t anxious at all.

I really don’t remember being this reactive to upcoming storms before Superstorm Sandy.

Anyone else experience a similar reaction?
