Heartbeat of Love
Heartbeat of Love

On or after or sometimes before this day – always a Saturday eve, my (fraternal) lodge would hold a “sweethearts dance” and for the last couple of years it did not happen and a several couple got together on our own; this year the pandemic offered an easy excuse. Hopefully, next year will see its return. In the meantime on the first time Valentine’s Day fall on the same day I blog I share my Songs of Love playlist.

Each link works and I even added two songs to the list, 65 strong on YouTube, as I prepared to draft this song, including the studio version to precede the live song that previously opened the YouTube list. The other song came to mind when I considered a different Mamas & the Papas tune by the but the lyrics did not fit. A companion list may be found in Apple Music.

The story goes that, in the summer of 2016 a good friend and his wife celebrated their 50th year of marriage. I posted a blog that included many of these songs but not in any curated order.

This list results from that time and included many on a cassette tape from many years ago that I played on my car stereo on my first date with Shelly and select songs I added since. A Richie Furay song (and CD) provides this blog’s title.

All on the topic of this day.

Do enjoy and share.

Did you intentionally leave out My Funny Valentine to see if we were paying attention?
Also from my generation My One and Only Love, I’m Glad There is You and countless others

Thanks Corey! Music is a trigger for memories - especially romantic ones.

When I first got divorced I found, in my things, an old cassette tape of music i listened to ibn college. I played it often in my early days as a single parent, when my children were young. Recently, I was playing "House on Pooh Corner,'' on Alexa. My daughter remarked that that song was on my college cassette and, whenever she hears any of the songs that were on the tape she smiles thinking of how we used to dance around the house. For me, those were difficult days. I found it fascinating that my daughter remembers music and dancing.

Maybe a blog topic for me next week?
