Fall From Grace

To lose favor or a position of power or honor is a fall from grace.

Last weekend a hot shot, flashy football player, who happens to be the son of his coach "Neon" Deion Sanders, was expected and expected to be one of the top 3 National Football League draft picks.  Namely, Sheduer (Light of the Almighty) Sanders, the star Colorado QB.

He was ready to be coronated, but pick after pick his status and stock shrunk and after the second day of the draft (and 102 picks) he was fallow in free fall.

In the end, he was chosen, in the 5th round, on the third and final day of the draft after 143 others had been picked.

What lesson did he learn?

Why did this happen?

Will he harness the humiliating experience as motivation?

Has the last chapter been written?

Does anyone care?

I really don't follow sports in general. But this was a lesson my parents would have been happy for me to learn. In the interview, I think he came off as cocky! Ultimately I think his Dad's involvement worked against the son. Maybe the Franchise didn't want an extra coach. Maybe this was hubris on both their parts and they are equally cocky. That being said, I never raised a black son in today's world. There's enough ugly energy on the outside. Perhaps Dad was correct. I haven't walked in their shoes.
I wish him great luck and I hope hi team gets to the super bowl. I also hope he works hard without too much coaching from Dad.

Apparently others, especially NFL players picked in lower ranked rounds, do care. Tom Brady for example (6th rank pick) played harder and did all right because of it. But it depends on one’s personality and competitive edge. My thoughts.

Tom Brady was the 199th Player Drafted and The GOAT….. I rest my case.

The entire nation of football fans watched intently. People cared until they didn't care, meaning that their interest was lost upon their team not drafting him. Now, Cleveland Brown fans care.
Time will tell if Shadeur Sanders has the humility to endure and thrive. I don't think his talent is in question, only his abrasive attitude.
The bigger lesson is that it takes more than just talent to thrive in life ✨️
