You may already heard about it. Read about it (Friday’s blogger blogged about it two days ago.). Listened to it. Maybe you were there. All I know is I keep humming this song (see the title of this blog.). From a LP of the same name some 55 years old. A really good one. Most people think of “Down By the River” or “Cowgirl in the Sand.” Neil Young and the current iteration of Crazy Horse performed neither at the May 14 concert I attended at Forest Hills Stadium. He did perform “Cinnamon Girl,” “The Losing End (When You’re On)” and the title of this blog. I found the concert exhilarating. I left with a smile on my face.

This iteration of Crazy Horse features original members Ralph Molina on Drums and Billy Talbot on Bass and Micah Nelson from The Promise of the Real that features brother Lukas Nelson which backed Neil on recent tours.

I doubt anyone who attended would not describe the show as memorable. Interestingly, it’s only my third show at this iconic venue and the other two were memorable. Some personal Corey history: I attended my first ever concert there, Saturday evening, July 15, 1967: The Jimi Hendrix Experience opening for The Monkees. Four years later (Saturday, July 17), after my sophomore year at Martin Van Buren High School, I saw Creedence Clearwater Revival. Neil actually mentioned that first concert during his banter saying that night’s show was the first one since that one.

I pondered who else attended May 14 in 2024 also attended that Saturday eve in July 55 years ago. But the reference certainly resonated with this correspondent.

There was other cool things that happened before the concert. Paul Napolitano, when I was in cue to order the tickets for the presale, recommended we get Golden Apple Hospitality tickets as well (We even enjoyed as Fred reported a nice meal in Forest hills before the show – see pic below.).

Besides a golf cart ride from One Tennis Place from Eddie who transported us back after the show, it allowed us pre-show entry to enjoy some beverages, and in the case of Paul and Rob Intellisano, some ping pong.

At the Golden Apple, Paul noticed someone wearing the same orange Buffalo Springfield t-shirt as me. He called him over and we took a pic (below).

We learned we attended the same Richie Furay show at Jones Beach (actually Poco with Richie opening for Loggins and Messina) and at the City Winery (when it was still on Varick Street). It turned out Henry’s wife worked with my friend Tommy backed in the day for the State Senate. Small world.

This is the second time Fred and I attended a show headlined by a founding member of Buffalo Springfield.  At Gotham networking meetings Fred often says "Love the one you're with" referring to his fave Gotham group (One must surmise of the moment.); well, we just need to do a show headline by the singer-songwriter of that song to complete the trilogy.
