Card Day?

Card Day?

Valentine's Day is around the corner...start getting your cards, flowers, and chocolates orders in :-)

I thought it was initially started by Hallmark or a flower company but actually there are several stories how this began. According to the most famous, Saint Valentine was executed for secretly marrying couples to spare husbands from war, defying the Roman Emperor Claudius II's ban on marriages for young men.

Another story says it emanated from the pagan festival Lupercalia, celebrated in mid-February in ancient Rome. Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture. Pope Gelasius I, in the 5th century, replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine's Day, establishing it as a day for expressing love and affection.

IMHO Valentine's Day is a day to cherish the profound connections that make life so vibrant. It's about recognizing those moments of tenderness and understanding shared with someone special. This day is not just for romantic gestures but also for appreciating all forms of love in our lives—family, friends, and self-love.

...or it's just another card day :-)
