This afternoon, Gotham hosts its annual Battle of the Bands®.

In contrast to discussions about politics that tend towards controversy and division, music tends to bring people of different persuasions together.

Some of my social media posts (I purposely avoid giving P.R. to either platform in this blog) invite “interesting” comments. Even articles I share on the Gotham Politics Listserve (Politics@GothamNetworking.com) engender intense discourse.

Not so when I post about music on those platforms or on Gotham’s Music Listserve (RockRap@GothamNetworking.com). And I attended some great concerts with some who share views that differ from mine.

That further demonstrates my point about music.

And that’s why I look forward to a musical afternoon, this year at Club Groove NYC at 125 MacDougal Street in the Village to listen and watch six worthy bands competing for the Gotham “crown”.

Parkway South 2:00 p.m.

Back from Zero 2:30 p.m.

David Kopperman Band 3:00 p.m.

Mercury Maid 3:30 p.m.

PAPA JACK 4:00 p.m.

LUKABRAZI 4:30 p.m.

It may not be Dave Mason or Richie Furay (Imagine, both at the same show) or Rod Stewart or Bob Weir and Phil Lesh – all last month, or Dead & Company. or John Fogerty with ZZ Top (upcoming ahead of the summer concert season) but I personally guarantee you’ll enjoy the afternoon of April 29 if you join us.

Check it out (And a shout out to our Executive Producer for this stellar concert, Norm Spizz.). View the Band Bios and our Concert sponsors (including lead sponsor Phoenix Public Adjusters Group) and supporters in the 2018 Gotham Battle of the Bands® program journal.

And for those interested, find video my April 2017 talk on the (almost) first 100 Days (of you know who) posted to my YouTube channel (Gotham BOTB videographer Cayce Crown taped it and Shelly’s cousin video editor Marc Harwood cut it into short segments.).
