An Exhibit

An Exhibit

There is an exhibit at the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial to the Holocaust on Battery Place in New York City that is not-to-be-missed.

“Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.” is not only compelling but it draws you in to, in the words of the promotional brochure, “an unparalleled opportunity to confront the singular face of human evil - one that arose not long ago and not far away.”
It is, above all else, relevant.

And, as you leave the exhibit, you are inspired by the words of Auschwitz survivor, Charlotte Delbo (1971):
“You who are passing by
I beg you
Do something
Learn a dance step
Something to justify your existence
Something that gives you the right
To be dressed in your skin in your body hair
Learn to walk and to laugh
Because it would be too senseless
After all
For so many to have died
While you live
Doing nothing with your life.”
