Obviously, we are being bombarded daily with stories concerning the effects of Covid-19. But there is one recent story that made me smile and I couldn’t help but share it here.

There are two giant pandas, Ying Ying and Le Le, who live together at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park Zoo. Giant pandas are on the endangered species list as there are currently only 1,800 left in the wild. The Executive Director of the zoo has recently released a statement stating, that Ying Ying and Le Le arrived at the zoo in 2007 and have not mated since attempts to unite the pair dating back to 2010. That is, until now.

According to the Executive Director, once the zoo was closed down to visitators in January due to the Coronavirus, Ying Ying and Le Le have begun doing what is natural, engaging in the mating process. And while Ocean Park has yet to confirm a pregnancy, they are “hopeful to share pregnancy news to Hong Kongers this year and make further contributions to the conservation of this vulnerable species.”

I love this story because, to me, it is a symbol of rebirth and hope during this global pandemic. Do you expect to hear similar stories of rebirth?
