A Little Quiet

A Little Quiet

Used to be that I would look forward to alone time in the car to crank up the radio and sing at the top of my lungs.

But, I’ve noticed lately that my radio habits have completely changed. Instead of looking for some old Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen or yes, even Barry Manilow, I don’t even reach for the power button to turn the radio on.

I find the quiet calming, particularly driving to the station in the morning as I am contemplating my day.

Just my own observation as I am getting ready to get in my car to head to Gotham LI Women.

I usually like audio books, music or talk shows. But I definitely do find that I need quiet more and more lately!

I'm with you. I find quiet time, no phone, no radio, no "incoming," is crucial to my well being and creativity. I'm giving myself a retreat after Thanksgiving, primarily for this purpose.

When I was commuting to Stamford by car, I used to play music and sing. I even got caught a couple of times by my CEO. He loved telling that story as sales meetings. LOL These days, I appreciate quiet...especially when doing creative work or reading.

I too enjoy quiet time when driving. But I find to break up the quiet, I lean towards the WFAN sports talk. Maybe its a sign of getting older, but blasting the music in the car, like I used to, just hurts my head these days.

Nancy- I wish I could take your example. What was calming is no longer....

I’m a worrier. So I like music or talk radio in my car to “take me out of my head” and give me inner quiet.

My publisher would call the "quiet" noise; another story. Personally I lean towards music whether I choose a playlist, an album or my personal iTunes radio station. Occasionally I can go with the FAN especially if something good happened the day before involving a team I too for.
