Deepfake
Deepfake technology is reshaping my industry with hyper-real visuals and AI-generated endorsements. Anyone can be replicated like old celebrities, politicians, or even your friends. For marketers who are diving in, it’s a creative dream. But when consumers can’t tell real from synthetic, it becomes an ethical nightmare.
I'm seeing two extremes...deepfakes that look perfectly real and phone-shot videos that embrace imperfection. Unscripted, shaky camera clips shot by real people are outperforming polished productions because audiences want authenticity. Truth over technique. It's one of the reasons Mamdani got elected.
Deepfakes may deliver visual magic, but they are eroding trust if brands aren’t transparent. Just because we can generate amazing-looking artificial creative doesn’t mean we should.
The future of advertising sits between innovation and integrity. Deepfake tech can drive creativity, but at a cost.
