Monkey In The Middle
Her we are again. We have reached the middle of the 4 year presidential cycle. That means we have another opportunity to vote, the "Mid-Terms". I hope every has exercised there right to vote. This is the most meaningful right we have as American Citizens. For the past 6 months or so we have heard all the polls, all the campaigning and all the promises from the politicans. They will say anything to grab a vote, often these promises are forgatten about once the election passes. A few weeks ago a politiacan submitted a bill to change the economy to a 4 day work week. They are suggesting this should be a new law and the new norm for the economy. Does that mean 4 days of pay instead of 5? How would that change things? Im sure this will be long forgotten as well. I hope everyone voted!

I have never missed an election since the 1970 midterms and have had to avail myself of absentee ballots, I've done early voting and I have voted on election day across three states.
And FYI, that piece of legislation has been introduced several times in the past and was reintroduced recently. It is designed to phase in lowering the federal overtime threshold from 40 hours a week to 32, meaning employers would owe time-and-a-half for any hour past the fourth day of an eight-hour schedule. It does not order anyone to work fewer hours, and it does not allow employers to cut pay to offset the change. It affects only employees who are eligible for overtime pay and is really great for people who need a more compressed schedule.
I defer to our employment lawyer to opine how this would impact the workplace as we know it.
